JG04 FUN
Honda Civic R 2007
Production number R-00494

Sunday 13 May 2007. Over 2,000 miles covered now, and I have only seen one other new R on the road. It was in red. Interestingly the new advert shows the car in silver. See it here.
Tuesday 20 March 2007. Yet another for sale on ebay. Auction has reached £17,600. This one has 19" wheels. See the pix here
Monday 19 March 2007. This should be the last entry here for a while. I will post pictures of any new R's I see, but today I took the registered keeper transfer papers, just received from the DVLA, in to Stratstones. I still do not understand how the DVLA would know if the part of the form signed by me had actually been posted by me, but the dealers insisted that I had to send it in myself. Maybe they wanted to save the 21p postage. Anyway, here are the pictures taken today, a lovely bright red version, one of four of them now sold, together with a previous model with some front body styling. Quite a bargain at the price shown on the window.
Saturday 17 March 2007. Here is my previous R now for sale: Click Here. 31,655 miles, first registered 8 Oct 2004, priced at £12,850, more than £2,500 more than my part exchange price! I am sure that is not a picture of the actual car though.
Friday 16 March 2007. So a red one turns up with the comment 'beat the waiting list' on ebay. See it HERE. But why does it say it is a standard model, yet with five seats? Mine is standard too, but with just four seat belts. Update 17 March 2007. I see the advert has been amended and now refers to four seats!
Tuesday 13 March 2007. A comment about the car from a David Moore, Manchester: its a POXY Civic....R or not its still a civic. Do I detect a hint of jealousy here? But of course some people have no idea of great design! Apparently he has seen five already, and it has only been available on the road since March 1, apart from the dealers demonstrators. I have only seen one in driving 400 miles, and that is mine! And why did he make threats about shutting my site down if I referred the quote to him? It's true.
Monday 12 March 2007. Just back from a couple of days in Northumberland. A lovely drive there and back. I appreciated the design of the car: the way the side bodywork flows into the lighting cluster at the back is magical. And the feel of the paintwork...not at all like metal. The only way the car could be improved is by getting more power from the engine. Maybe that will come in a couple of years time. But why is the speedometer so inaccurate? When it shows 70 in the bright red head up display it is doing about 65 true speed according to the GPS. Surely Honda can do better than that.
Thursday 8 March 2007. 10 am Took delivery of the new Honda Civic R today. With thanks to the dealership and salespeople at Honda, who went out of their way to ensure I was happy! And thank you for the Honda umbrella too! Below are pictures taken at the dealership, and at Blidworth Woods, a short time later. This is only the second new R in the Mansfield area, and the first silver one, so if you see it around, give me a wave. I hope the purchaser of my previous car is as happy with it as I was. I now have a pleasant run to Northumberland and back in a few days time.
